When choosing a travel destination, you may want to consider the multi-cultural pleasures of San Diego, California. The city of San Diego offers an endless array of things to do and see. Located at the southwestern tip of sunny California, this city is only minutes from Mexico. In fact, Tijuana is visible from the south side of San Diego with merely a border crossing separating the two cities. With passport in hand, an individual could choose to spend the entire day touring sites within Mexico.
However, the abundant seaside attractions available for touring may leave little time for much of anything but enjoying San Diego itself. Upon arriving at Lindbergh Field, the San Diego Airport, an individual will find an ample supply of transportation available. Transportation options are as diverse as the city. The Metropolitan Transit System is affordable and routes through all major areas of San Diego including the San Diego Zoo and the Wildlife Park.
If it is the individualized transportation you are comfortable with, upscale taxis and hotel vans are professional and accommodating. Simply make the arrangements ahead of time or contact the hotel of your choice upon arriving at Lindbergh Field and they provide free pickup and drop-off service. When leaving the airport be sure to take in the breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean speckled with sailboats, yachts and ships of all sizes.Located just across the infamous Coronado Bay Bridge is the quiet, upscale community of Coronado. This quaint little city has beautiful boutiques for the shopping enthusiast and neighborhood pubs for the relaxing beer and burger with friends. While strolling along the sidewalks of downtown Coronado, you'll become aware that floral landscaping is throughout the entire city and its tropical array is enjoyed by all who visit. Downtown Coronado is located within blocks of Coronado Bay and the Pacific Ocean.
Within in minutes of downtown San Diego you can find yourself at Sea World or the San Diego Zoo. These two destinations are a must for anyone visiting the area, but certainly not the only attractions to visit. At Sea World, the dolphins and their handlers put on a tremendous water show involving the audience and it is not uncommon to get a splashing cool down, compliments of the dolphins. A good time is had by all that attend the show. The San Diego Zoo has a gorilla exhibit that draws in anyone passing by on the sidewalk, only a safety glass structure exists between guests of the park and the families of gorillas for optimum viewing pleasure. While strolling through the zoo, don't forget to visit the world renowned Giant Panda Discovery Center. There is much to learn about the world of pandas.
While there is much more available to see and do at both the zoo and Sea World, be sure to leave plenty of time to take a bike tour. Bike tours are available guided or self- guided via a bike rental. Biking is a great way to spend time on the piers and the boardwalks feeling the fresh ocean breeze and viewing the enormous military ships at port.
In the evening hours, downtown San Diego has some of the newest and hottest style night clubs available within walking distance to local hotels. Many of the clubs provide live music on a nightly basis. For the casual upscale experience, consider trying a wine bar such as The Wine Encounter located at 690 University Avenue. This establishment boasts "Where Good Wine Meets Good Friends". Wine bars are known for their friendly atmosphere and are a great place to visit with locals.
